Fever Ray recently unveiled a full studio recording of the Peter Gabriel track ‘Mercy Street’ which has been a feature of the recent, acclaimed live shows.
That track is now available to pre-order as a limited edition, numbered 7″ vinyl, backed with Dry And Dusty, featuring cover art by Andreas and Mattias Nilsson from the Fever Ray and Rabid Records stores. Release day is 6th September.
Fever Ray has today confirmed what many suspected after a shocking, mildly terrifying (and anonymous) image – see below – appeared last week with the words ‘Mercy Street’ upon it. Having performed spellbinding live covers of well-loved tracks by artists as varied as Nick Cave, Vashti Bunyan and Peter Gabriel, her cover of the latter’s ‘Mercy Street’ is set for release later this year on limited 7″ and download through Rabid Records.
After her incredible live shows last year, and due to overwhelming public demand, Fever Ray comes out of hibernation to play a very special mini-tour. There will be an all new live show curated by long-time collaborator Andreas Nilsson.
We can announce that Zola Jesus will be supporting Fever Ray in London, Paris and Glasgow on the September 2010 European tour.
Zola Jesus is the endeavor of a solitary girl named Nika Roza Danilova to simultaneously combat and invoke the approaching apocalypse using the only weapon she has; her voice. After a decade of opera training and a musical awakening involving such varied inspiration as Billboard bubblegum, classical aria’s, no wave, avant industrial, she was able to thread her influences into a sound uniquely her own. We can announce today that Fever Ray will be playing live at Glasgow’s O2 ABCon Monday 6th September. This is the first time Fever Ray will have played in Scotland. Tickets can be purchased from the Fever Ray Ticket Store before they go on public sale on Friday 16th.
Those who were lucky enough to catch Fever Ray play live at one of her sold out UK shows last year were uniformly spellbound. From the incredible laser show to the otherworldly pagan stagewear, and not least the spectacle of the self-titled debut album breathtakingly brought to life, these were golden tickets.
Yes, we did announce last year that Fever Ray was to play no further UK live dates, but due overwhelming public demand Karin and her band will come out of hibernation to play 2 more shows in London and Paris, as well as selected festival dates.
Fever Ray will play at London’s Brixton Academy on September 8th and Paris’ La Cigale on September 9th. Tickets are available from 9am Wednesday 10th March* at feverray.com/tickets
